Description: Forrest General Hospital, a Level 2 trauma center, is faced with an array of complex trauma cases which are treated with a multitude of interventions including NPWT. Multiple surgeries are often needed and the use of NPWT may decrease complications and bridge care until the next phase of treatment. Candace Hinton, RNFA, FNP-BC will share specific cases: shotgun blast, BKA, left femoral-popliteal bypass & thrombectomy/fasciotomy where NPWT was used to assist with closure and reduce complications.
